Hey there, this is Seb 🙌🏽
What extraordinary privileges do we have? No generations before us had this much comfort, life expectancy, and freedom. Yet, the state of the world creates worries.
Finally, we discover that the world, especially its nature, economy, and peacefulness is a fragile, interconnected ecosystem. We are facing threats to our very existence. The future outlook seems to get darker by the day. What worries you the most about the future? Please leave a comment.
Additionally, we are easily overwhelmed by the future we are facing. Feelings of helplessness, struggle, and anxiety creep in. Parts of this anxiety result from information overload. All we hear and see, such as bad news constantly pouring, result in tensions.
It feels like we are no longer in control. Where future outcomes seemed predictable some years ago, they are finally and rightfully regarded as unpredictable. We are inspired and guided by news, narratives, stories, and various imaginations such as science-fiction books or movies. The pace of technological change is increasing. Advancements in Technology are building on previous ones, resulting in compounding effects. The trajectory of change follows exponential curves rather than linear ones. The Internet and World Wide Web are everywhere. Data, AI, and robotics alter the workplaces of many. New jobs emerge, we can alter genes, and brain-computer interfaces are on the horizon. We mimic creation and have become surprisingly good at it.
What does it mean to be human in the future? Technology as a driver of change can be considered neutral. It can be your friend and aid or your enemy and hindrance. It is we who decide on its creation and clever use. Cleary, technologies can help us to solve the pressing issues to build tomorrow's world.
Mahatma Gandhi once said:
The future depends on what you do today.
Tomorrow must be created and not concretized right now. We always have the choice whether to let others decide upon our future or to actively participate in its creation.
"Together Tomorrow" aims to inspire, guide and connect my friends today, so that, together, each of us can build the world of tomorrow.
The aim of this Substack is to create a source of inspiration and methods that guide you and your friends to take action toward your desirable futures.
This inspiration and guidance require a baseline of information. What can you expect? You can expect one or two posts per week. Every post will contain a call to action to include you in the design.
Are you still reading? Then I would love to have your feedback on this post and your expectations. And please share this post with your friends.
So long,
Seb
